This is the ski base serving the villages of Axams, Birgitz and Gotzens and to a large extent Innsbruck. A couple of large hotels, bars, mountain restaurants and ski hire shops which also sell ski accessories make up the area of Axamer Lizum. It is an excellent location for those who wish to have skiing literally at their doorstep and although there is no main village in sight you will find a lively atmosphere in the evening.
The Skiing
The lift pass allows for groups to ski in the areas of Axamer Lizum, Muttereralm & Glungezer. The ski area offers a total of 23 lifts (10, 5 & 8 respectively) totalling 68km of piste. The area of Axamer Lizum is the most popular. It is where the Hotel Olympia is located and was the main site of the Innsbruck
Hotel Olympia
A well run, large hotel located on the slopes of Axamer Lizum at 1500 meters just 150 yards from the ski lifts and beginner slopes. It has 98 rooms all with en suite facilities, which can accommodate from 2-4 and larger rooms 4-6. Like any large hotel, facilities are in abundance; gymnasium, large restaurant, dining room and house bar with open fire place, TV room, ski storage and a disco.
Aprés-ski
In Axamer Lizum most après ski activities would centre around your large hotel. A large disco provides hotel guests with lively entertainment each evening while large recreation rooms, games arcade and tv rooms offer a quieter form of après ski and a gymnasium. A swimming pool is available at times although not always open. An indoor Aquatic Centre in Axams (8km away) is well worth a visit and you may like to try a bit of bumboarding/ toboganning available only 100m from your hotel. An evening in Innsbruck is also well worth considering
