Lillehammer is a small picturesque town with 25,000 inhabitants. There are many shops and café bars strewn along the snow-filled streets giving the town a very Scandic look. Many Apres ski possibilities are available as with any city which has hosted the Olympics; swimming, ice-skating, ice hockey matches, bowling, discos etc. not to mention the high speed bobsleigh track. The town services 4 snow sure ski areas; Hafjell,Kvitfjell, Skie & Gala offering a total of 85km of slopes

The Skiing
Lillehammer is central to the ski areas of Hafjell, Kvitfjell, Skei and Gala, the largest and closest being Hafjell just 15 minutes away. Here you will find 25km of piste (7 green, 8 blue, 5 red and 4 blacks). We heartily recommend Hafjell for our student groups. It is an excellent resort with a superb ski school and is managed very efficiently by enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff. The remaining 3 areas each boast 20km each and a total of 16 green, 19 blue, 13 reds & 6 blacks. All resorts offer floodlit skiing in the early winter when darkness falls and slopes are generally open until 20.00hrs. A truly excellent area for the absolute beginner and beginner-intermediate. Excellent snow conditions will ensure fast and heartening progress for all levels of skier. Transfers from Lillehammer to Hafjell are included, transportation to the other resorts will carry a small supplement.

The Birkebeineren Hotel

The large apartments which have 3 separate bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, are of a high standard and can accommodate 6-7 students comfortably.  There is a fully equipped kitchen, living room, with dinner table, sofa, TV, telephone, storage room & balcony. The main hotel complex 100 yards away boasts a large TV room, reception and dining room, and can accommodate groups in spacious twin and triple bedded rooms.

Aprés-ski
In the centre of Lillehammer there is an outdoor ice skating rink, a new indoor swimming arena, multiplex cinema and sledging at the Olympic Park. An indoor ice stadium hosts many ice-hockey games generally on Sundays and Wednesdays. There are of course many shops, café-bars and discos also in the town. For those who wish to experience the ultimate adventure, the bobsleigh track close to Hafjell offers high speed fun and the addition of the Hunderfossen Winter Park adds even more to this wonderful resort.
