Soccer: El Nino The Hero
Fernando Torres had the last say for Spain last night by firing them to Euro 2008 glory against Germany in Vienna, and ending 44 years of under achievement.
Torres scored in the 33rd minute, he used pace and muscle to get around Lahm and chip the ball over Lehamnn.  He then celebrated his goal by sucking his thumb.
 
Germany had two wasted chances in the first half, one which came when Ramos lost his bearings a gifted a pass straight to Miroslav Klose and the other was when Thomas Hitzlsperger was teed up on the edge of the area by Klose but could not get purchase on his shot.
 
Spain had chances to make it comfortable after the break with Lehmann saving a header from Ramos and Iniesta had a shot which was cleared off the line.
 
Torres was taken off in the 78th minute, with his job already done.  He has never won trophy with Atletico Madrid, Liverpool or Spain before last night. 
"I feel a tremendous joy.  It still hasn't sunk in what we've achieved", said the Spanish striker.
 
Spain midfielder Cesc Fabregas insisted that his teams performance last night against Germany was down to "beautiful football". 
"It was a long time since we have seen a team of that quality trying to play beautiful football-I don't think we've seen many teams have success(playing that way)", the midfielder said.
 
The Euro 2008 Champions have now set their sights on the World Cup which will be held in South Africa in 2010.
