Soccer: Furious United take Real protest to Fifa
The Cristiano Ronaldo transfer saga took twist yesterday when Manchester United reported Real Madrid to football's world governing body Fifa over their pursuit of the Portuguese winger.

Furious United officials originally threatened to report Real two weeks ago if they continued to court Ronaldo in public, after coach Bernd Schuster had confirmed the player was the Spanish club's No1 target.

And United finally lost their patience yesterday, releasing a club statement that read: Unfortunately Real Madrid had not kept its own consel and the club feels it has no alternative but to make a formal complaint to FIFA, the world governing body, which it has done today.
