| Rugby: Inspection trip to Stade Toulousain |
|
Topflight’s first rugby inspection trip to the number one club in Europe – Stade Toulousain – took place from 18th to 20th April, when a group of teachers representing all four provinces travelled.
Our visit to the stadium on Saturday was memorable. Our guide, Michel Jacomet, a former Stade and French player was an enthusiastic guide. The state of the art gymnasium, the weights room, the training fields and the visit to the home team’s dressing room left us in awe. Many of our seasoned rugby group said they had never seen anything like it- even in New Zealand.
The game in the Municipal Stadium between Stade Toulousain and Clermont Auvergne produced a titanic game between the top two teams in France.
Of course no trip to Toulouse would be complete without a visit to Trevor Brennan’s De Danu bar where a great time was had by all.
A memorable trip which augers well for future “Train & Play” programmes in Toulouse and Benneton Treviso.
