A well designed resort, home to the very comfortable Snowy Owl Inn. The ‘Town Square’ is full of shops, restaurants, cafes, an Irish Pub (over 21s only!) and is the main focus of the resort.
The Skiing
New Hampshire guarantees snow of the finest quality. There is snow from November to May and with 98% of the mountain being covered by state of the art snow cannons, there is little possibility of experiencing dreaded ice or wet snow conditions. Mountains are well serviced with high speed lifts which help you to avoid queues at peak times. Almost all lifts take you straight to the top of each mountain and from there skiers can opt for a multitude of trails suited to their abilities.
Your lift pass entitles you to ski on two different Mountain Resorts together totalling nearly 100 trails (pistes). The closest resort to the hotel is Waterville Valley a mere 5 minutes drive while the largest resort in New Hampshire - Loon Mountain is a 30 minute drive. You will be transferred to both FREE of charge. Waterville Valley is an excellent all-rounder Mountain with Valley Run being a long green option for beginners which is extended by the slightly steeper slopes of Oblivion & No Grit. Head to the many reds available and end the week on the steep but well groomed wide slopes of True Grit, Gema and Ciao. Loon Mountain constantly ranks as one of New Hampshire's most popular resorts. Nestled within the breathtaking White Mountain National Forest,Loon features 43 trails with 250 glorious acres and a diversity of terrain for all abilities. With Loon Mountain's 3,050 foot peak elevation and 2,100 foot vertical drop, there's no shortage of excitement for skiers and snowboarders alike.
Snowy Owl Inn
Attached to the ‘Town Square” in the heart of Waterville and only 5 minutes drive from the slopes you will find the delightful Snowy Owl Inn. The hotel has 85 rooms of varying styles, most accommodate from 2 – 4 with 2 large double beds while other larger rooms with Mezzanines generally accommodate 5. All have full private facilities, cable television and direct dial telephones. Other facilities include an indoor heated swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna, gymnasium, a TV room with karaoke, recreational rooms and a breakfa s t / dinner area.
Aprés-ski
The in-house swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi and gymnasium are available free of charge. A short walk into the Town Square will take you to the ice skating rink where you can either hire skates or watch Plymouth University ice hockey team in action. A little further on you will come across the large convention centre which sometimes hosts discos or movie evenings and the Athletic Club close by offers indoor swimming and a video games room. Horse drawn carts or snow shoe hikes may also be found locally, while a 5 min drive to the mountain will offer the chance of floodlit skiing.
Shopping in New Hampshire
Just 40mins from Waterville you will find the Retail Outlets of Tilton, a haven for shoppers. A host of famous designer factory outlets such as Polo Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Nike, Gap, Nine West are all within a short drive from your hotel. Cheap is an understatement! It is predicted that your luggage will increase dramatically on your return journey!
