Dear Group Leader,

As and from Feb. 1, 2007, an increase in the UK Airport Passenger Duty has come into effect, in the sum of £5 per person travelling from a UK Airport to any European Destination. This represents a 100% increase on the existing UK Airport Passenger Duty (APD), which has already been included in your costing.

This is a controversial Government imposed so called 'environmental' tax and is not an airline or airport tax.

Having discussed this situation with George Best Belfast City Airport, we have decided to bear this cost between us for the remainder of this ski season (06/07). We both appreciate your business and loyalty and feel it is unfair to ask you, the group leader, having paid in full, to have the burden of collecting this extra, unexpected charge.

As with the majority of airlines, travel agents and tour operators we are strongly opposed to this increase and are delighted to hear that a number of airlines are considering legal action, as a result of this new Government Tax, and our fervent hope is that it will no longer be applicable for the ski season 07/08. However, should the situation not change, we will regretfully, have no option, but to collect this APD, for the next ski season.

Yours faithfully,

Marco Piccoli
